Due out later this year, ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ is the first ‘Star Wars’ spinoff movie in the franchise’s nearly 40 year history…and with such pioneering territory came some natural skepticism.
The story is set between Episodes 3 and 4, as the film follows the team that stole the plans for the Death Star. The first teaser trailer rocked the internet when it debuted, which make the idea of any looming disappointments sting all the more.
And according to reports, all is not well in Disney’s Magic Kingdom…
One Hollywood insider divulged the ugly truth, “The execs at Disney are not happy with the movie, and ‘Rogue One’ will have to go back into four weeks of expensive reshoots in July.”
‘Rogue One’ is due out on December 16, and is directed by Gareth Edwards, best known for the 2014 reboot of ‘Godzilla’.
Disney was of course quick to play damage control with the leak about reshoots, “The filmmaking team and the studio always anticipated additional shooting and second unit work to make the film the absolute best it can be, and the actors were aware there would be additional shooting.”
There is immense pressure on the studio and all parties involved in the production to deliver a memorable motion picture, any more negative leaks actually risk creating an anti-hype fanboy hysteria toward the film, a backlash that could ultimately jeopardize box office receipts, particularly for those all-important opening weekend numbers…
