The teaser trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is ready to take the world by storm!
The very first footage from the film debuted exclusively on Good Morning America Thursday. The latest chapter in the ‘Star Wars’ saga, is actually a prequel that takes place just before the events depicted in 1977’s ‘Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope‘.
The plot is mostly under wraps at this time, but what we do know for certain is that the story follows the Rebel efforts to steal the Empire’s plans for the first Death Star. The cast is a nice mixture of veteran performers and newcomers, with Felicity Jones slated to take on a leading role, alongside fellow newbies Riz Ahmed, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Mads Mikkelsen, Jiang Wen, and veteran faces such as Forest Whitaker and Donnie Yen.

Rogue One is also going to break ground in a different manner altogether, the first Star Wars movie without any Jedi in it at all.
It will also have the distinction of being the second straight ‘Star Wars’ installment to have a female protagonist at the helm of the plot.
Previously Disney had deployed the character Rey (Daisy Ridley) to take the lead in 2015’s The Force Awakens, and Jones’ character seems to be a continuation of the studio’s strong feminist streak.
In 2013, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced two stand alone movies were in development alongside the new sequels. Last year, he revealed Rogue One: A Star Wars Story was slated to be the first effort, with a Han Solo origin story being the second.
Director Gareth Edwards, whose credits include 2010’s Monsters and 2014’s Godzilla, was hired to helm the movie to box office glory.
And judging by early fan reaction to the trailer, it will indeed be glorious!
