Reached by phone on Sunday morning, Cora Masters Barry, widow of crack smoking form D.C. Mayor Marion Barry, said she was not prepared to talk about the younger Barry’s death. “It is very difficult for me right now,” she said.
Trayon White, the Democratic nominee for the Ward 8 council seat, and a protege of the senior Barry, called Marion Christopher Barry a friend who will be missed.
Marion Barry Jr. had been arrested for drug charges in the past, hinting at a lifelong struggle with addiction.
Marion Barry Sr. was infamously caught on tape while still in office by undercover cops doing lines of coke and subsequently lied about it to a Grand Jury…he plead innocent to all charges, tape be damned…
