Lex McAllister, a contestant on The Bachelor’s 14th season, died after an apparent suicide attempt. She was 31 years old.

McAllister had reportedly claimed she wanted to end her life in a text message to an unidentified loved one earlier that day.

When the loved one hurried over to McAllister’s house to check on her, they reportedly found the reality star surrounded by several empty prescription pill bottles, prompting them to call the police immediately.

Lex, who appeared on the popular dating show, was rushed to the hospital on Saturday afternoon after Columbus, Ohio Police received a call claiming McAllister had overdosed on prescription pills.

She was taken to the hospital in stable condition, but died on Tuesday morning when her health took a turn for the worse.

On one of her posts in Instagram, she said that she was looking forward to a more positive 2016.

A family member stated that McAllister had a history of depression and that she struggled with bipolar disorder. Tragically, McAllister is the second member of the Season 14 cast to die in recent years. In 2013, contestant Gia Allemand died after she hanged herself while at her home in New Orleans. She was 29.
