Heartbroken Celine Dion is taking time to mourn. The 47-year-old singer has cancelled her Jan. 16 and Jan. 17 performances following the death of her husband. René Angélil, who guided his wife’s career as her manager and mentor, died on Thursday after a prolonged fight with terminal cancer.

Angélil had been diagnosed with throat cancer, leading Dion to put her career on hold multiple times to care for her husband. His cancer returned in 2014, following the removal of a tumor in December 2013. He was previously diagnosed with throat cancer in 1999.
A statement posted on her website read: “With heavy hearts, we regret to inform you that Celine performances Saturday, January 16th and Sunday, January 17th at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace have been cancelled. ”

The 47-year-old singer, who returned to her residency in August after taking a year off to care for her spouse, is tentatively scheduled to return to the venue on February 23.

Dion took a break from her residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace Las Vegas Hotel and Casino last year when René’s illness worsened, but returned to the stage in August.
