Lady Gaga has proven time and again that she definitely has some vocal prowess.
The 29-year-old Golden Globe winner left viewers in awe when she sang the National Anthem at Super Bowl 50. Gaga was adorned in a red Gucci suit paired with mismatched red, white and blue Gucci platform shoes. Her look was completed by blue nails, sealing her patriotic ensemble for the night. Indeed, the songstress can take any type of music and seem to do justice to it – from pop to jazz and everything in between.
Gaga is totally making 2016 her year so far. She has some busy days ahead, as she’s bound to perform a tribute to David Bowie at the Grammy’s. She’s also going to perform her nominated song at this year’s Oscars. Despite taking new heights, Gaga considers her Super Bowl performance a “dream come true.”
“I’ve always wanted to sing the National Anthem at a major sporting event since I was a little girl, and for it to be the Super Bowl, it is the ultimate…” she told NFL.com, further stating that she re-watched iconic performances to get her prepared.
“For me, it was Whitney Houston,” she revealed when asked who was her favorite. “When I was little, I used to stand at the top of my staircase and sing along with her version. At home, the more I would sing it, the more my dad would say, ‘You’re getting pretty good, kid.’ So to be here now and to sing it to America, it’s just wonderful.“
Lady Gaga was just one performer in the A – list lineup for the Super Bowl. Coldplay, Beyonce and Bruno Mars all took to the stage for the Super Bowl Halftime Show. Gaga expressed her patriotic sentiments toward singing the national anthem for such a hallow occasion. “I think it marks what being an American is all about—working hard and the ultimate payoff for the champion is hard work. I think the best way to do that is to forget about yourself, and just focus on what it means.”
