After less than a year of dating, Mariah Carey is engaged to her billionaire boyfriend, James Packer. The Grammy-winning artist is set to tie the knot with her Australian businessman boyfriend.
The proposal reportedly happened Thursday evening while the couple was in her hometown of New York City when he presented her with what can only be described as the most amazing engagement ring. E! News reports Carey’s diamond ring comes in at a breathtaking 35 carats. No wedding date has been set just yet.
The third time just may be the charm for both of them. Carey is the mother of twins with ex-husband Nick Cannon, while the Australian billionaire mogul has three children of his own.
The pair met in a film premiere in Aspen in 2014 and started dating the following summer. On a U.S. talk show, she described how they got together.
“We were talking and laughing and people were getting mad at us and stuff like that. So we hit it off,” Carey recalled on The Steve Harvey Show in November, to which the host replied, “Ain’t he lucky.”
The pop diva’s new fiancé is a star in his own right: Packer is an entertainment mogul and the 4th wealthiest person in Australia, with an estimated wealth of $4.7 billion, according to Forbes.
