Is there nothing Bill Murray can’t do?
The comedy icon received the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor on Sunday night at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. David Letterman, Jimmy Kimmel, and Steve Martin were among the celebrities who made appearances at this star-studded event. But it was Miley Cyrus’s performance that stole the show after an on-stage slip-up.
Cyrus started off her special rendition of “My Way” with spunk and confidence. But it soon came crashing down when she botched the words to the song and riddled the rest of her performance with expletives.
“I got too stoned,” the singer explained to the audience. “I smoked too much and forgot.”
After joking about her drug use awkwardly in front of a VIP crowd in the nation’s capital, it took the charms of Bill Murray himself to save the day…
Keeping the crowd lighthearted, Murray, 66, suggested Cyrus try the song again. The 23-year-old songstress came back on stage for the second time and performed the song without messing up the words…but her previous attempt is forever on tape for our amusement.
