It’s always a treat to see movie stars and divas of the silverscreen joining forces for one dynamite magazine cover, and Vanity Fair has proven it is always a force to be reckoned with when it comes to its Hollywood Issues.

The movie icon laden cover was lensed by famed fashion photographer Annie Leibovitz, and the layout stars the multiple generations of Hollywood actresses that shaped today’s film and acting, and even directing scene. Jennifer Lawrence, Cate Blanchett, Brie Larson, Saoirse Ronan and Charlotte Rampling– all five of Oscar-nominated actresses this year- strike a pose for the camera. They were joined by industry icons Viola Davis, Jane Fonda, Helen Mirren, and Diane Keaton, as well as up-and-coming actresses like Alicia Vikander and Gugu Mbatha-Raw and previous Oscar winners Lupita Nyong’o and Rachel Weisz.
The Hollywood Issue includes portraits of the stars with stories of their careers written by James Wolcott. Take a sneak peak at the Vanity Fair photo spread below!

The cross generational photographs are a passing of the torch from the Hollywood beauties and giants of yesteryear that are still with us to a new and modern generation of youthful starlets.
Time will tell if the newbies will age with as much grace and adoration as the acting veterans they’ve posed with for Vanity Fair.
