In true boneheaded fashion, rapper 50 Cent has had to do damage control for posting a video of himself mocking an airport employee with autism.
50 Cent had thoughtlessly provoked the employee and accused him of being “high”…but for the rapper this proved to be a new low.
In a statement that smacks of lawyer speak, 50 Cent (or at least his legal team) released the following remarks:
“While the incident at the airport resulted from an unfortunate misunderstanding, I am truly sorry for offending the young man,” the carefully crafted attorney language said.
“It was certainly not my intent to insult him or the disability community, which is a source of great strength in America. I have apologized personally to him and his family,” the mea culpa concluded.
Friend and foe alike have been quick to denounce the rapper’s insensitive behavior, and although an apology of sorts has been offered, it appears the damage may already have been done to the rapper’s already floundering reputation.
In the interim, while 50 Cent seeks to remove his foot from his mouth, he’ll be lucky that it all doesn’t end with him removing a legal foot from his ass after a defamation law suit.
