Actress Blake Lively appeared at the Cannes Film Festival premiere looking like the leggy blond beauty that she has always been. But when she shared a seemingly good natured red carpet photo on Instagram, the reaction wasn’t at all what she expected, or what anyone else anticipated for that matter…
Lively is now under fire and being accused of making a racist post.
She uploaded two photos of herself side-by-side to each other, one photo showing her face and the other, showing her assets. She captioned it “LA Face with Oakland Booty.” Little did she know that this was a one liner that was about to stir up a hornet’s nest on the interwebs…
The line was actually from the song Baby Got Back by Sir Mix-A-Lot.

It’s not like this was the first time the line was ever uttered in public. Khloe Kardashian posted a photo of her booty on Instagram and captioned it with the same line recently. Even Katy Perry has tweeted the lyric in the past.
And yet, Kardashian and Perry didn’t receive the backlash, nor the cruel accusations of “cultural appropriation” and “racism.”
Lively is currently pregnant with her second child and opted to stay above the fray by refusing to comment about negative reactions. Many women with no lives and too much time on their hands decided to be offended with her Instagram post, accusing Lively of being a “rich white woman” and just “using black women’s bodies as punchlines.”
Thankfully, some sane voices prevailed, as many people defended Lively and her innocent Instagram post.
But for the most part, in a world gone mad, poor Blake Lively was chummed on as if she had been dipped in to a shark tank…and all over a Sir Mix-A-Lot lyric.
