Lou Pearlman was both a genius and a con man, and his life has appeared to have ended as anti-climatically as his days in show biz did when he was convicted of swindling investors out of more than $300 million back in 2008.
Still serving the first third of his 25 year prison sentence, Pearlman didn’t realize his time behind bars would end up becoming a life sentence…
The 62-year-old producer died Friday at a Miami hospital after an apparent heart attack sent him into eternity.
The disgraced star-maker behind 1990s boy bands *NSYNC and the Backstreet Boys had parted acrimoniously with both boy band groups, and the bad blood carried over into the grave for some, who could not help but get some cheap shots in on the deceased via social media:
#LouPearlman my old manager died in prison… Rip Lou not the best business guy really at all but he did discover me karma is real

With Pearlman at the helm, the Backstreet Boys shot to stardom in 1996 and became one of the top-selling boy bands of all-time, selling more than 130 million records, according to the band’s website.
Shortly after the launch of the Backstreet Boys, Pearlman followed up with a second boy band called *NSYNC — which sold more than 55 million records.
And the aftermath of Pearlman’s demise revealed that the high road proved to be a difficult one to take for many of the former N’ Sync bandmates, who posted a litany of backhanded compliments about their former mentor:
Word is that #LouPearlman has passed away. He might not have been a stand up businessman , but I (cont) https://t.co/nsczUEVOOQ
