The green crusader looked like a fraud after his recent stunt, casting incredulity on his claims of being an advocate for the reduction of carbon footprints…
Leo burned untold gallons of jet fuel in the span of less than 24 hours, as he zigzagged across the Atlantic for a total of 8,000 plus miles of jet travel, all to pick up a cheap trinket on the other side of the globe…
Some of his would be allies in the environmentalist movement were less than impressed by the message DiCaprio’s travel antics set for the public.
And according to environmental analyst Robert Rapier, DiCaprio’s overall jet-set lifestyle “diminishes his moral authority to lecture others on reducing their own carbon emissions.”
“Alternatives usually require sacrifice of one form or another. Everybody says, ‘I’ve got a good reason for consuming what I consume’ … It’s the exact same rationalization for billions of people.”
While Leo—whose foundation recently pledged $15 million to combat an ill defined “climate change”—has mainly focused on his environmental advocacy efforts in his spare time, he’s never let his political and environmental crusading get in the way of his party boy/playboy lifestyle…after all, he can afford to be a hypocrite…
