Johnny Manziel is now under an active investigation by the NFL, just when he thought he’d put his bad press behind him, the image conscious league is taking a particular interest in the unemployed quarterback’s role in last month’s Mercedes Benz crash on the Sunset Strip.
Manziel previously had told police he was the passenger in an S550 that collided into a light pole after a night of partying back in April. Neither Johnny nor the driver was arrested or charged with a crime…even though Johnny’s buddy allegedly fled the scene of the crime.

In a new wrinkle of drama, the destroyed car ended up being a rental — and the guy who owns it is understandably pissed …claiming Johnny and his accomplice (the suspected driver) have refused to pay for any of the damages.
Reports indicate that total damages exceeded $90,000. Manziel allegedly promised to buy a new car, but has been MIA in any effort to make good on the debt with the rental company.
NFL sources explain that the car crash probe is only part of a “larger Manziel investigation which is ongoing.”…meaning the NFL is trying to determine if Manziel is an image liability they might want to ban from any attempted comeback…
