American rapper Azealia Banks may be facing a travel ban to the United Kingdom, pending a Home Office investigation against some controversial Twitter activity made on her social media account.
Banks fired racial slurs at Zayn Malik after she accused the former ‘One Direction’ heartthrob of copying her work in his new music video. She also launched some of her scathing remarks at 14 year-old Disney star Skai Jackson. The controversial tweets have since been deleted…but since it’s the internet, your sins last forever.
In fact, her sins on Twitter were so extreme that they suspended her account!
Azealia has subsequently been removed from headling at London’s ‘Born & Bred Festival’.
The fest takes place in June, but event planners were not afraid to drop the rapper for her lack of decorum. In a statement following her dismissal from the festival the event organizers let it be known their reasons for parting ways, primarily because their event is intended to “celebrate inclusivity and equality” and Banks’ twitter rants proved intolerable to that mission.

The British Home Office is considering Banks’ actions and whether she should be allowed to enter the UK in the future, releasing a statement of their own:
“Coming to the UK is a privilege, and we expect those who come here to respect our shared values. The Home Secretary has the power to exclude an individual if she considers that his or her presence in the UK is not conducive to the public good or if their exclusion is justified on public policy grounds.”
Banks later issued a statement via Twitter in which she explained why she insulted Malik and added that she believes she was talking to Skai Jackson’s mother, not the teenager herself (clearly that makes everything all right.
But defiant as ever, she refused to apologize at any point, saying the racists insults she pointed at Malik were a reminder that they are both seen as “other” by the wider music industry…whatever that means.

It would appear that Bank’s demeanor makes her support for US presidential candidate Donald Trump all the more apt by the day, he too faced an outcry and a UK travel ban recently for remarks he made about Muslims.
Perhaps she can be his runningmate…
