Jessica Alba is a superwoman. She’s a popular Hollywood actress, fashion inspiration, an awesome mother and a successful entrepreneur. Getting all these accolades wasn’t easy for sure, Jessica worked her way up from the bottom. But now that she’s on top of the world, will she be cashing out of her billion-dollar company?
In 2011, Jessica founded Honest Co., together with Christopher Gavigan, Sean Kane and Brian Lee. Honest Co. sells sustainable natural products for babies, skincare and household uses. Since the launch of the company, Honest Co. has earned around $300 million in revenue.

Last week, the Wall Street Journal speculated that Unilever PLC is eyeing the purchase of Jessica’s company. As stated in the report, there are current discussions to make a buy already and the offer stands as a whopping $1 billion, which is comparably lower than the $1.7 billion valuation of Honest Co. When asked for comments, Unilever PLC said they don’t discuss market speculations, while Honest Co. has not made any comment yet as well.
In the past years, Honest Co. has had its share of class action lawsuits. It wasn’t smooth sailing for Jessica and her team, but she stays committed to the cause of her company.

In September 2015, Honest Co. was sued for $5 million due to the removal of half of the normal amount of zinc oxide in the SPF 30 sunscreen that resulted in an increasing number of customers being sunburned. Around the same time, Honest Co. was also sued for $5 million in damages due to claiming they sell “natural” products when there are synthetic ingredients in the products. In March 2016, the company was reported to use sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) in their laundry detergent.
Honest Co. responded to the claims and gave The Wall Street Journal evidence that the claims are “baseless and no merit.” Jessica continues to stay committed to her company’s products and that they ensure safety, effectiveness, and quality for all of their customers.
“A, I’m a hustler. B, I’ve been working since I was, like, 12. I lived all over the world; I’ve worked all over the world with adults and seen all these different dynamics. I’ve been part of a lot of businesses’ marketing strategies, and I see how they utilize someone like me. I love learning. I’m a sponge. I haven’t lost my thirst and desire to learn. Every day is different, and I’m working toward something that I feel really good about. So it’s supergratifying,” Jessica told Allure last month.
It looks like Jessica is keen to keep hustling and striving to put the honest back into Honest Co., because truth be told, the brand may not have much value without her.
