When it comes to getting fit and shedding excess flab, stars are always at the forefront of the latest trends. Aside from hitting the gym and exercising, a detox diet is now playing a big part of their regimen.
Especially now that the festive season has come to a close, the desire to undo the damage of holiday eating is priority number one. But what actually is a “detox diet”? According to WebMD, a detox diet is about cleansing the body from unwanted toxins by using natural cleaners to flush the body. It’s like spring cleaning for your body that can be done year round.

To do this the right way involves drinking juice and a little something extra. The purpose being to flush away any impurities in the “tubes and pipes” of our bodies.
Several detox diets have made the rounds, such as the Master Cleanse, which claims drinking lemon water can cleanse the body of toxins and can reduce your craving for junk foods, sweets and alcohol. Martha’s Vineyard Detox Diet even promises that you’ll lose 21 pounds in 21 days. Meanwhile, the Liver Cleansing Diet asks you to eat raw fruits and vegetables and take liver tonic capsules, which can be bought online at their suggested website.

And it seems like celebrities are jumping onto the bandwagon.Gwyneth Paltrow, who on her lifestyle website GOOP.com, recently declared that she wanted to lose weight saying “I need to lose a few pounds of holiday excess. Anyone else?”

The Green Smoothie, the latest craze in detoxifying, has convinced several stars to gulp the emerald-colored wonder drink. Basically, it’s a thick beverage made from raw fruits and vegetables, with additional ingredients like water, dairy products, and sweeteners.
Anne Hathaway is a fan of this drink.

And so as Oprah…

As are Ashley Greene, and models Kate Upton and Alessandra Ambrosio.

Drew Barrymore have made it as her detox diet of choice. She said, “Every time I work on a movie set, the whole cast starts to drink it.”

Adding, “It’s a ton of nutrients, condensed and blended into a juice so your body doesn’t waste energy breaking it down. The vitamins, minerals and amino acids will flow right into your system to rejuvenate you. And it’s full of fiber, so you’re not reaching for that bagel or that second cup of coffee between meals.”
The main goal is to get fit and lose those extra pounds. It helps that some of the available diets don’t need a personal chef, only raw and natural products. However, it should be taken into consideration that you must still maintain a diet of solid foods to avoid any complications such as enemas or colonics.
Even if you detox, you still need to eat nutritious foods. Exercising is one thing you should also include in your daily regimen. Don’t ever turn to extreme measures such as diet pills and starvation. And as with all good things: Moderation is the key.
