As if Robert Griffin III didn’t have enough on his plate trying to resurrect his once-promising career in Cleveland, now his marriage to his college sweetheart has unraveled.
The Browns starting quarterback has filed for a divorce following a long separation from his wife, according to cleveland.com .
Griffin has been separated from his wife, Rebecca Liddicoat, for the past several months, according to the report. And sadly enough, Griffin and Liddicoat were only wed for three short years, and even recently welcomed a baby girl to this world a year ago.
Griffin had three tumultuous years in Washington following his sensational rookie season and did not play a down last year while serving as the team’s third-string quarterback. He signed with the Browns in March with the intent to prove his rookie season wasn’t a fluke, he has thus far won the starting job in Cleveland in hopes of resurrecting his pro football career.
Learning a new system is hard enough for any quarterback, especially with the added pressure of wanting to shake the “bust” moniker as the No. 2 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. Throwing a divorce involving a small child into the mix doesn’t make anything easier….especially when trying to play for Cleveland, a town known as a quarterback graveyard…just ask Johnny Manziel.
Rumors of infidelity have swirled around the Griffins since college, whether or not any reality to the whispers is true will likely come to light soon enough…
