Mariah Carey and her fiancé James Packer confirmed their recent engagement on January 21. But the couple have one minor issue blocking any of their planned nuptials – they are reportedly still married to other people.
According to TMZ, Mariah’s divorce from ex-husband Nick Cannon is not yet finalized, and businessman billionaire Packer is still technically tied to ex-wife Erica Packer (the Australian singer and model has moved on from their 2013 split and is reportedly dating Seal.)
Cannon previously revealed his looming divorce as a guest on the Meredith Vieira Show, though they were staying civil for their two children, twins Moroccan and Monroe, 4.
“It’s truly just staying focused on family and what’s right and getting through these times and just doing what’s right for the kids,” he said at the time. “We’ve always been people who are kinda on the go, coming and going, so their life hasn’t changed one bit. We spend holidays together, we do everything that we’re supposed to do together.”
Cannon congratulated Carey on her engagement in a funny Instagram post. He joked about the massive ring she received, which happens to be a whopping 35–carat diamond engagement ring.
