Back in May the world learned that Disney planned on plowing ahead with an origin story for the galaxy’s most dashing rogue, Han Solo.
And after an extensive casting search they settled on Alden Ehrenreich as a suitable version of the character Harrison Ford put on the map back in 1977.
So from there it was only natural that they got younger versions of the gang back together, and logically that would include the original owner of the Millennium Falcon, Lando Calrissian himself.
After all, half of this movie’s plot is probably the backstory on how Han Solo Swindled the iconic space ship away from Lando in the first place…
Birth.Movies.Death is reporting an even more interesting detail: According to Devin Faraci, Community alum and star of the upcoming Atlanta series Donald Glover is the frontrunner to play young Lando. Faraci notes that there’s no official offer out yet, but it sounds like he’s the guy they want.
Much like Harrison Ford’s portrayal of Han Solo, Billy Dee Williams’ work as the smooth talking, debonair double crosser is iconic.
These will be big shoes to fill, no matter who is cast, a daunting challenge awaits the lucky young actor chosen…
We first met Lando Calrissian in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, and he was a character that quickly established himself as a fan favorite within the Star Wars ensemble.
But we will wait and see if they can pull off the hat trick required to cast this role properly, replacing both Harrison Ford AND Billy Dee Williams may be a chore too big.
So many dashing rogues, so many prequels to cast them in…
