Top Performances In The 2016 Grammys
The best performers in the music industry gathered for a historic night singing songs of tributes to musical icons who are no longer with us, to this generation’s artists destined to be part of history’s great performers. The Grammys 2016 showcased some of the best live performances in years. Here are the evening’s top performers and their act that highlighted the event.
Kendrick Lamar – “The Blacker the Berry” & “Alright” & Freestyle

One of the best live TV performances in history, Lamar immediately made his political intentions clear as he shuffled onto the stage handcuffed, chained and wearing a prisoner’s shirt. The whole act climaxed with a series of jump cuts en route to his final freestyle. A glowing image of Africa with the word “Compton” appeared behind him.
Chris Stapleton, Bonnie Raitt & Gary Clark Jr.’s B.B. King Tribute – “The Thrill Is Gone”

After his unforgettable performance in the CMAs, Chris Stapleton did it again in the Grammys. The soulful, pained growl in his voice almost matched the late King’s, and Clark.

Lady Gaga covered an electrifying 10 Bowie songs in 6 minutes. She once again showed her vocal prowess along with Bowie Collaborator Nile Rodgers and Raphael Saadiq. It was as marvelous as Bowie himself.
Hamilton Cast – “Alexander Hamilton”

One of the night’s standout moments, the Grammys featured a live performance from Broadway. This gives most of the nation its first taste of the groundbreaking hip-hop musical. The show was broadcasted live from the Richard Rodgers Theatre in New York City.
Justin Bieber, Skrillex & Diplo – “Love Yourself” & “Where Are U Now”

Bieber danced the night like it was his last as he rode high off his first Grammy win. He performed an impassioned acoustic run-through of “Love Yourself” before joining DJs Diplo and Skrillex — both performing live instruments — for a hard-rocking, kick-ass version of “Where Are U Now.”
Taylor Swift – “Out of the Woods”

Swift was joined by co-writer Jack Antonoff as she opened the show with “Out of the Woods”. Her performance was flawless and one of the best awards show vocal act in her career.
Lionel Richie Tribute by John Legend, Demi Lovato, Meghan Trainor, Luke Bryan, Tyrese & Richie (“Easy,” “Hello,” “You Are,” “Penny Lover,” “Brick House,” All Night Long”)

One of the best number during the Grammys night and a performance of all ages, Lionel Richie himself performed along side an assortment of renowned R&B, pop and country stars who paid him tribute with his classic solo songs and Commodore hits.
Alabama Shakes – “Don’t Wanna Fight”

It’s always an excellent performance whenever Alabama Shakes take the stage. Brittany Howard with her great voice run-through “Don’t Wanna Fight” with controlled vocals and the band’s rock- blues-funk fusion.
Andra Day & Ellie Goulding – “Rise Up” & “Love Me Like You Do”

Andra Day and Ellie Goulding collaborated for a powerful performance as the two traded vocals on Ellie’s “Love Me Like You Do”. They seemed to push each other to greater vocal heights as they performed on stage.
Stevie Wonder & Pentatonix – “That’s the Way of the World” (Maurice White Tribute)

Stevie Wonder and Pentatonix presented a wonderful performance to honor Earth, Wind & Fire co- founder Maurice White, who passed away two weeks ago. It was a remarkable layering of vocals of their version of “That’s the Way of the World”.
