Being social in the modeling industry can bring buckets of money.

The fashion industry has definitely caught the social media bug, and more than ever internet platforms are being used to reach out to the public and self promote. Staying current and trendy has become a 24/7 Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram phenomenon.

Many of these fashionistas are no longer merely walking mannequins. They have expanded their repertoire to become models of “influence” which allows for them to actually get paid to promote brands. Today, many agencies are signing up models because of their media followings and clients are quoted separately for the same reason. In an interview with CR Fashion Book, former casting model and CEO of D’Marie Archive- a website that measures, manages, and monetizes fashion star’s media portfolios- revealed some of the highest ranking internet models in cyberspace.

It’s no surprise that Kendall Jenner, Cara Delevingne and Gigi Hadid are on the top of the list. Jenner reigns supreme, Delevingne comes second, and newcomer Hadid slides in to the third spot. Spadafora said that they are “currently valued between $125,000 and $300,000 for a single post across their portfolio.” And added, “If you want to reach a model’s audience, you’re going to have to pay a hefty additional fee for that.” All of this is money in the bank for these internet golden girls.

One casting director even speculated that the industry was forever changed by the advent of social media, “As far as commercializing a career, a girl won’t get very far in 2016 if she’s not socially savvy. Can I say that you can be a big star without a social media presence? I’m not encouraging it.”
